Repair and Retrofitting of Concrete Bridge Girder Using Epoxy, Micro Mortar, and CFRP Sheets

Abstract Bangladesh is connected through bridges and many of them are experiencing damages due to the aging concrete, weathering effect, or excessive loading. Repair retrofitting those becoming inevitable make operational. In this study, a concrete bridge have been investigated non‐destructive tests numerical methods. A repair strategy for damaged girders has developed using epoxy injection, shrinkage‐compensated micro mortar, externally bonded Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) sheets. The mortars injected inside large cracks portions girders. flexural zones were strengthened U‐shaped CFRP Field load also conducted determine achieved improvement from strengthening work. Dynamic accelerometers, digital probes, linear variable differential transformers (LVDT) attached actual deflections girder before under Finite Element models (FEM) validate field data shear resistance retrofitted outcomes show that satisfies design requirements AASHTO‐LRFD guidelines.
